      Which to choose

      Which to choose

I am often asked what types of chains are out there. Well, the answer is hundreds if not thousands. The truth is you can gold plate or gold coat just about anything. When you spend your hard-earned money, you want to make sure you are receiving the best quality product for your money.

Jewelry is made from gold, silver, platinum, copper, bronze, steel, iron, and more.  The prices are generally based on the market value of whatever metal the piece is made of.  Gold, silver, and platinum are normally some of the most expensive metals on the market, while stainless steel copper and bronze generally are sold as a more economical alternative. So, which to choose and why? The answer is on what suits the consumer the best and the purposes of buying what it is your buying.

Is it an investment or a fashion accessory?  When buying jewelry, one wants to ask themselves what the purpose of this is. I am going to pass this down or am I going to use this as a daily go to piece or a piece to wear on special occasions. Keep that in mind when deciding what type of precious metal, you are going to buy.

There are tons of ways chains and jewelry are made industrially. The material is fed into a machine and the product is spit out. This leaves the consumer with little say on how they want their piece. Gold Fever Miami prides itself in providing our customers with exactly what they want. Every piece is handmade to order. What does that really mean?  Let’s say you are looking for a medium size (10mm to 12 mm) Cuban Link Chain. You have options length finish and width how flat the chain is made and if you would like any specific design add on (stones, color , etc). Cuban Link chains normally have a traditional look and is often confused with the Italian curb chain which is a rounder wider gapped link.

With machine made chains “it is what it is”. When you look at gold alternatives many customers tell me that they notice the links are not soldered shut or the gaps between the links are to apart, and even that the color is not exact. The reason why this happens is, when you produce in bulk the manufacture has to keep cost and efficiency in mind. Everything moves fast and products need to get shipped. Like most things, anything done in a hurry seldom end well. Details are often overlooked.
When coating metals the amount of material used to coat is very important. Gold Fever Miami uses only real gold and applies a total of five (5) thick coats of gold to each piece. This ensures your product will last.  Our Gold Over Silver Series is a huge seller and here's why. Your purchasing pure silver, a precious metal that holds value.  This is opposed to an alternative metal that is inexpensive. Every Cuban Link we sell is hand made this ensures that our strict guidelines for craftsmanship are adhered to by our staff. We have experienced jewelers that inspect every piece multiple time before finalizing the process. So, whether your buying a gold or silver chain the same hand made quality and finished product is assured.
There is good stainless steel then there is cheap stainless steel. Understanding the craftsmanship and what is needed to manufacture a well-made piece of jewelry is crucial in the process of picking what is considered “good” and what is considered “bad”. Our stainless-steel line is selected based on the quality of the products produced. This ensures that our customers will not be buying a piece where stones fall out easily or the finishing is almost certain to fade. Basically, our expertise and experience are used as an aid in selection.

Hopefully this has helped in the decision-making process of what type of piece to buy. If you have any questions or comments on this article, please feel free to leave your comments. Thank you from the Gold Fever Miami family.
